  • GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
    ***SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED***

  • Develop, revise and maintain quality assurance and testing documents and procedures for assigned work.  Assist the technicians and mechanics in the inspections and testing.

  • GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Use manufacturer’s manuals, drawings and other technical documentation to develop QA and test procedures to ensure work is accomplished in a quality manner for the proper and safe operation of systems and components.  
  • Develop and maintain QA records by task and job in accordance with the NAVSEA approved QA manual.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings and instructions. 
  • Assist in executing QA and test procedures. Basic weld and fit-up inspection ability. 
  • Attend Federal, State, and Local training classes, seminars, and certification courses.
  • Maintain knowledge as it relates to quality assurance issues in the field.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance/control methods, principles, and practices, including statistical analysis and sampling techniques.
  • Knowledge of pertinent product characteristics and applicable production maintenance, or repair methods and processes;
  • Knowledge of inspection, test, and measurement techniques;
  • Knowledge of the relationship of quality assurance to other activities such as contract administration, engineering, supply.
  • Skill in interpreting and applying product specifications, technical data, regulations, policy statements, and other guideline materials.
  • Skill in conducting studies and investigations, problem analysis, and developing logical and documented recommendations.
  • Knowledgeable and trained in safe work practices
  • Skill in written and oral communications.
  • Skill in establishing effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Develop welding and NDT procedures.
  • Develop workmanship training.
  • Accomplish VT, PT, MT, and UT procedures (Certified NDT II).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Job Requirements

    MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • 5 (+) years of consistent quality assurance experience in an industrial environment in the maritime industry performing QA and control inspections on ship for requirement compliance.
    • 3 (+) years of experience demonstrating practical knowledge of QA programs, QCI systems, machining skills and a detailed knowledge of shop procedures, processes, methods and techniques.
    • Skilled in marine production trades (i.e. electrical, electronic, mechanical, structural, piping, etc.)
    • Define test requirements, setup, and operate test equipment.
    • Familiar with calipers, connectors, micrometers and hydrostatic test gear.
    • NDT Level III certification by American Society for Nondestructive testing and a thorough knowledge of the NAVSEA Standard Items.
    • Secret Clearance.
    • Hold a Passport.
    • Available for foreign travel.

    PREFERRED SKILLS:

    • Connector certification preferred.
    • Cableway/Wireway certification preferred.

    SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

    • Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.
    • Employee is required to access remote areas of multi-level vessels
    • Must comply with Company’s Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
